The Higher the Magnification - The More Detail You'll See

Magnification can represent combinations of lenses including objective, ocular, and auxiliary lenses. The magnification ranges described here may include these combinations.

Compound Microscopes may include additional eyepieces (ocular lenses) to expand the total magnification range.

Stereo and other Inspection Microscopes may include additional eyepieces and auxiliary lenses including Barlow lenses to expand the total magnification range.

Camera Types

Various types of cameras are available. Cameras intended to be used with computers will use USB, wi-fi, or LAN to connect to the computer, and typically include specialized software. Cameras with HDMI, VGA, or analog video interfaces can be attached directly to a compatible display device such as a monitor or television, and do not require a computer to operate.

Camera Pixels

Also referred to as camera resolution, the number of pixels represents the maximum size of images which can be displayed or recorded by a camera. The value is displayed using MP (megapixels).

Key Features

  • 40X to 3000X magnification range using brightfield objective lenses, and 100X to 3000X magnification using phase-contrast objective lenses. All lenses are achromatically corrected for improved color and resolution with additional flat-field correction for edge-to-edge sharpness.
  • A phase-contrast version of the MQ8333 laboratory microscope with a 5-position turret condenser providing brightfield, darkfield, and phase-contrast settings
  • The infinity-corrected optical system reduces distortion and improves color accuracy.
  • The quintuple lens turret is equipped with five plan-achromatic objective lenses producing high-contrast images with edge-to-edge sharpness.
  • The Koehler illumination system provides centered, evenly-distributed lighting with a field aperture for maximum contrast and definition.

The MQ8333 is designed to be a scalable and economical laboratory microscope. This model is adorned with professional features. Its infinity-corrected optical system ensures reliable, low-distortion magnification, with plan-achromatic corrections for accurate colors, excellent field flatness and edge-to-edge sharpness. A quintuple lens-turret is used, providing five levels of magnification. The Koehler-design LED illumination system provides bright, evenly-distributed light for maximum contrast and definition. This phase-contrast model includes a specialized turret condenser and objective lenses used to enhance details in low-contrast specimens such as live cells and microorganisms.

Viewing Head

The microscope's head is designed for precision and comfort. The super-widefield optics provide a larger field-of-view so you can see more specimen at any magnification. Compensation-free Siedentopf interpupillary adjustment allows any user to properly align the oculars without readjusting focus. For users with astigmatism or asymmetrical vision, both eyepieces can be independently adjusted to fine-tune focus. The switched trinocular port provides a dedicated mount for a camera to record photos or videos, and is height-adjustable to match focus with the eyepieces. The port uses 23mm tube interface which can be replaced with an optional C-mount interface.

Optics

This model includes five brightfield objective lenses, four phase-contrast objective lenses, and pairs of 10X and 30X eyepieces for a total combined magnification range of 40X to 3000X. All lenses are achromatically corrected for improved color and resolution with additional flat-field correction for edge-to-edge sharpness. The five-port lens turret can accommodate five lenses at a time, and uses reversed orientation to provide more working room above the stage.

Specimen Stage

The 2-layer mechanical stage provides smooth and precise movement for examination of specimen slides. The stage's low-position controls are conveniently placed near the coaxial focus knobs for a streamlined workflow. Examining specimen slides is intuitive and precise for users at any skill level. A convenient lever grouped with the left-side focus knobs can be used to lock and unlock the coarse focus adjustment to prevent damage to the lenses and specimen.

LED Koehler Illumination

Built on Koehler illumination principals, the sub-stage lighting provides evenly-distributed light for optimal contrast. The LED light-source ensures energy-efficient illumination with low heat for live specimens. The bright light-source is daylight-balanced to produce natural colors for imaging. The Abbe light condenser has a high 1.25 numerical aperture for oil-immersion, and an iris diaphragm to optimize contrast and depth-of-field. The condenser holder uses rack-and-pinion height adjustment for precision control, and is centerable for proper alignment. The illuminator's field lens provides an iris diaphragm to control light-spread, optimizing contrast and definition in specimen features.

Phase Contrast

A phase-contrast kit is included with a 5-position turret condenser and 4 plan-achromatic phase-contrast objective lenses. Phase contrast is used to reveal detail in indistinct objects, such as unstained cells and microorganisms that would otherwise appear invisible. By using a combination of specialized objective lenses and a modified light condenser, these invisible objects can be visualized by manipulating variations in phase. This turret condenser allows you to easily rotate through brightfield, darkfield, and three phase-contrast settings (10X/20X, 40X, 100X). Each phase-contrast setting has a centerable annulus for proper alignment. Each of the phase-ring equipped objective lenses has plan-achromatic corrections for improved color and resolution, as well as edge-to-edge sharpness.
